EMDR for Hypnotherapists – 2-Day CPD Training
Expand Your Therapeutic Toolkit With EMDR-Informed Techniques – £325
EMDR is a powerful and well-established therapeutic approach, best known for its use in working with trauma and distressing experiences.
This practical CPD training has been specifically developed for qualified hypnotherapists who would like to understand the theory and principles behind EMDR and explore how EMDR-informed techniques can be safely and appropriately incorporated into their existing hypnotherapy practice.
Across the training, we move beyond simply learning about eye movements. You will explore the eight phases of EMDR, assessment and preparation, stabilisation and resourcing, bilateral stimulation, processing principles and client safety, with demonstrations and opportunities to practise techniques for yourself.
What You Will Learn
A practical introduction to EMDR for hypnotherapists
EMDR is much more than moving your fingers from side to side. It is a structured therapeutic approach involving eight distinct phases, with assessment, preparation, stabilisation and client readiness playing an important part in the process.
During the training, we will explore:
- What EMDR is and the theory behind it
- How traumatic and distressing memories can become “stuck”
- The Adaptive Information Processing model
- The eight phases of EMDR
- Assessment, history taking and treatment planning
- Client preparation, stabilisation and resourcing
- Identifying appropriate targets
- Negative and positive cognitions
- Subjective Units of Disturbance (SUDs)
- Different forms of bilateral stimulation, including eye movements, alternating tapping and sounds
- Processing principles and working with blocks
- Grounding, containment and emotional regulation
- Client suitability, contraindications and when not to proceed
- How hypnotherapy skills can support preparation and resource building
- Ways EMDR-informed techniques can complement your existing hypnotherapy practice
- Practical application through demonstrations and exercises
More Than Just Theory
The training is experiential and practical.
You will see techniques demonstrated and if you join the live training you will have opportunities to experience and practise key skills in a supportive learning environment.
The emphasis throughout is on helping you understand not simply what we do, but why we do it, when it may be appropriate and how to work safely within your existing professional scope.
Who Is This Training For?
This training has been developed for qualified hypnotherapists who would like to:
- Develop their understanding of trauma and memory processing
- Learn about EMDR and bilateral stimulation
- Understand the structured eight-phase EMDR approach
- Expand the techniques available within their existing practice
- Build greater confidence when working with clients who have experienced difficult or distressing events
- Develop additional stabilisation, resourcing and grounding skills
- Add practical, trauma-informed techniques to their therapeutic toolkit
You do not need previous EMDR training to attend.
What Can I Say After Completing the Training?
On successful completion of the training, you will receive a CPD certificate and may state that you have completed specialist CPD in EMDR theory, principles and techniques.
Where appropriate, you may also describe your work as incorporating EMDR-informed techniques within your hypnotherapy practice.
It is important to understand that this course is CPD for qualified hypnotherapists and is not an accredited EMDR practitioner-training pathway. Completion of this course alone does not qualify you to describe yourself as an EMDR Therapist.
I think keeping this section is important. It makes the boundaries of the course very clear while still showing delegates exactly what the training adds to their practice.
