The Fad Diet Mentality
Usually one of the first things that needs to be done when seeing a slimming client is to de-hypnotise them from ‘fad diet’ living. Being on a diet makes you obsess over food, so you find yourself thinking about food most of the time – making it extremely difficult to eat less. You only have to ask a few people who are naturally slim to find out that this is not the case for them, they mostly only think about food when they are hungry. Also if you try to deprive yourself from certain food, what usually happens is that after a period of abstinence and strong willpower the ‘rebel’ inside us takes over and we end up binging on the food we were trying to avoid. This can then lead us to feel angry, guilty and depressed which in turn can lead to more cravings, and so the cycle starts again.

Many people continue to believe that there is some magical quick fix answer to weight loss. The truth is there isn’t a quick fix, if that was true then the magazines wouldn’t need to invent a new ‘wonder’ diet every issue. To lose weight the individual needs to be committed to long-term changes to their eating habits and lifestyle. 90% of people are overweight because they eat too much and don’t exercise.

For overweight people with a high BMI (25 and above), then the Hypno-Band weight loss system may be an option. This is a technique that involves having a virtual gastric band fitted. What is paramount to the success of any of the treatments offered by Marcia is your commitment. You must be prepared to make lifestyle and behaviour changes – no-one can do that for you. You need to be realistic about your weight loss goals – a healthy and realistic weight loss is between 1-4 lbs a week. Deciding to book an appointment with Marcia is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have tried everything to lose weight from prescription and over the counter medications to meal replacements and healthy eating/not so healthy eating diet’s. Nothing has worked. I have lost weight on various healthy eating diets but struggled doing so because being told that I could eat what I wanted, when I wanted meant something different to me than it did to the person who devised the diet!
