''My experience with Life Clinics was outstanding. I had the pleasure of working with Marcia, Julie and Andy. They were all so friendly, warm and empathetic to my situation. I was extremely anxious about first session mainly due to the agoraphobia and not having much contact with the outside world. Within minutes of our session they put me at ease by discussing what we were going to be covering over the forth coming sessions. Julie showed me certain TFT techniques to help calm my anxiety, which decreased and allowed me to cope with the rest of the session. I saw Andy and Julie on a weekly basis for 6 sessions. Over my time with them I was shown how to use tft in an everyday routine as well as more often for certain anxieties. I had hypnotherapy and regression work. Along with this, emails to them and daily listening to Marcia's relaxation cd I learnt to calm my system down and manage to leave the house on short periods. Since my sessions my confidence, self-esteem and outlook on life has changed so much. I am not the negative, anxiety ridden, timid person I was when they met me. I have achieved many things which felt were a mile stone away. I was over the moon to be asked to be my niece\'s godmother. Although, I was anxious about being in a church full of people and seeing people/family I hadn't seen in years. I achieved it, had a wonderful day and was elated with my progress. This wouldn\'t have been possible without the tools these wonderful people had taught me. For the first time in years I managed to get out of my house and enjoy the hop festival in Faversham, which I never thought would be possible again. I have missed out on so much of my life,almost 10 years of being a prisoner in my home due to the agoraphobia and relied on family to do my shopping etc. These truly wonderful people have very kindly helped me to build my life again. I am learning to love myself again and have faith in achieving the things I thought were impossible. I have a way to go to get to where I want to be. I am truly elated with all of the things I have achieved in such a short time working with these fantastic people. I am eternally grateful and Thankful for everything they have taught me and helped me achieve. Had I not contacted Marcia I would still be a prisoner in my own home. I whole heartedly recommend anybody wanting to improve their life in anyway to get in touch with this clinic. Anxiety & Stress

We live in a society where great demands and responsibilities are placed on us. Today, about one in seven people are suffering from stress or anxiety at any one time in the UK. And while some people manage, more and more people are showing signs of over-anxiety, which leads to stress, which can make a significant impact on the quality of life and wellbeing.

 

You may be one of those people but are now ready to explore ways of freeing yourself from anxiety and living a fulfilled and happy life, free to do things that bring you joy,

 

Anxiety and stress can manifest itself differently for everyone but common physical signs of anxiety or stress are :

 

  • Racing heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness
  • Dry mouth
  • Butterflies in stomach
  • Nausea
  • Urge to pass urine/empty bowels
  • Tremors
  • Sweating
  • Panic attacks
  • Insomnia

 

Common psychological signs of stress and anxiety are:

 

  • Inner tension
  • Agitation
  • Fear of losing control
  • Irrational dread that something catastrophic is going to happen (such as blackout, seizure, heart attack or death)
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of detachment
  • Phobias and fears

 

It could be an event that is causing your anxiety, such as:

 

  • Exams
  • Interviews
  • Speeches and presentations for work or occasions
  • Flying
  • Sports competitions

 

Anxiety can also manifest itself in different worries; it may be fear of being around other people, it may be anxiety in specific social situations, anxiety in your relationships with particular people at home, at school or at work.

 

Anxiety is a fear or concern that is exaggerated, and is out of proportion to the situation, although sometimes it may not feel like this. The symptoms of anxiety correlate with the stress response or “fight-or-flight”. This is primal response that protects you against threats in your environment, so if danger is present your body triggers a rush of blood to your arms and legs so that you can fight or run away. It is an adrenaline response that causes your heart to beat faster, pumping oxygen around your body to those parts that need it to protect you. You may feel as if you are on high alert as well, unable to calm down or relax, your mind may race unable to focus or quieten down.

 

It is a normal part of the human protection system to experience this fight-or-flight response, but only when there is real and present danger. To experience prolonged flight-or-flight creates feelings of anxiety. It is often rooted in a previous experience that triggered fear or in a general anxiety and worry about your situation at home or at work. There can also be anxiety without knowing what is causing it, a general feeling of anxiety known as “free floating” anxiety.

 

So why is it important to reduce anxiety in your life? What difference will it make to you? Research shows that prolonged exposure to cortisol and other stress related hormones can cause:

 

  • Memory problems
  • Weakened immune system
  • Weaker bones
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Reduce fertility

"I wasn’t sure I would write a review on Julie’s webpage but if it even helps one person to pick up the phone and turn up at an appointment it will be worth it.

 

I am a professional with a high powered job and severe anxiety and agoraphobia were the last things I would ever have thought I would have suffered from. There is a stigma attached to any form of mental illness especially when you have a high powered professional job and that’s why I prefer to remain anonymous.

 

It started after a fall resulted in the fracture of my shoulder and I couldn’t get out of the house for a few weeks and started to suffer from severe anxiety. I didn’t know why and I didn’t know what was happening. I couldn’t sleep, eat, leave the house or carry out everyday activities; I couldn’t even go outside the door to stand in the garden. It was the most frightening thing I’ve ever gone through.

 

Picking up the phone and asking for help was an extremely hard thing to do, it took a week of looking at the phone, ringing the number and putting the phone down before I could ring and finally talk to someone at the end of the phone.

 

To turn up for the appointment was a massive step for me to take and to talk to someone I didn’t know was difficult, I didn’t even understand it myself. Julie was great; she was patient and understanding, supportive and kind.

 

It was hard but Julie put in place for me a “toolbox” of techniques and strategies to enable me to cope with the anxiety and to gradually be able to go out again. Gradually over 6 months and only 5 sessions I was able to work again, shop, walk around a street and shopping centre. I was amazed by the progress I made in a short amount of time.

 

Julie supports you and encourages you all of the time, but it’s up to you to put in all the hard work to get the results you want to achieve. Julie tells you how well you are doing and makes you feel confident and good about yourself again and praises you for all your achievements, but its then up to you to tell yourself how well you are doing and to praise yourself for your achievements.

 

I hope this will help someone else to have the courage to pick up the phone, it’s not easy but it’s worth it. I wouldn’t have my life back now if I hadn’t made that call and had the courage to turn up for the appointment. I cannot thank Julie enough."
